The River Bluet was seen on Chaffee Creek and near the headwaters of the Mecan River in Waushara County in 2003. This species is western species that appears to be extending its range east, and has now been found in Michigan. It is listed as a Wisconsin species of special concern. The detail is a cropped digital photo from the original photo on the right. Notice the large cerci that are as long as segment ten. This is distinctive for any similar Bluet in Wisconsin, and is easily seen with close-focusing binoculars.
