Northern Bluet

(Enallagma cyathigerum)

The Northern Bluet has been found throughout the state, but I have yet to find this species in central Wisconsin. This individual was photographed in Oneida County on June 22, 2004. It is difficult to tell the males of this species and the Boreal Bluet apart. I have looked in vain at specimens of the Boreal from central Wisconsin hoping that they might be a Northern Bluet, but without any luck.
